Are you seeking an experienced and highly qualified Clinical Supervisor to support you with your client work? If you support adults, couples or adults affected by childhood trauma then my expertise can help you deliver compassionate, informed sessions.
I have 26 years of clinical practice and experience of working in different settings, as well as supervising other therapists in a range of contexts.
I achieved a Diploma in Supervision in 2015, and I've recently returned to supervising after a few years focused on building on my couples therapy practice.
I'm also a Trauma-Informed (trained) Therapist and Supervisor, with extensive experience and knowledge of adults impacted by childhood trauma, abuse and neglect, including experiences of extreme childhood abuse and neglect. Whilst I don't draw upon the Medical Model of diagnosis and labelling, I'm aware of Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), Complex Trauma PTSD (CPTSD) and Borderline Personality Disorder, having helped adults with these diagnoses or associated symptoms.
My approach to supervision starts with seeing you as a whole person, not just as a practitioner. You have a history and a work/life balance to protect, and my role is to support all of that so you can show up for your clients fully and ethically.
What you'll find from working with me is a professional, down-to-earth and warm approach, with some gentle challenge and a genuine curiosity about your process. I aim to be an honest and supportive source of knowledge for the practitioners I work with.
As a BACP registered and accredited therapist, I follow their ethical guidelines. I also supervise following the seven-eyed model of Hawkins and Shohet, which is a relational approach and takes into consideration; our relationship, your relationship with your client, your process, your clients process, the wider context, your interventions.
All therapists are different, as are supervisors and we all have different personalities and styles and may not be 'right' for everyone.
It's important I provide you with a safe, warm manner, knowledge and humour as well as some gentle challenge or curiosity at times too.
My supervision draws on a range of approaches, particularly attachment theory, transference and countertransference, modern trauma knowledge (including neuroscience and neurobiology), and some IFS and parts work. My early training was in the Person-Centred Approach, and I bring that relational way of being into how I show up in our supervisory relationship.
